What if...!

What if,

The sun didn't rise today

What if,

The moon left us

What if,

The planets deviated and collided

What if,

The earth moved from it's path

You see, routine is as much important, if not more, as adventure.

What if,
An external meteor or an internal quake broke the earth down into pieces

What if ,
One of the enormous possibilities that can end life, happened today

What if,
Life ended

What if,
Survived but were the only one to survive

Today,
Is a beautiful day

Today,
Is a blessing

Today,
Most of the things, if not all, are following their routine

Today,
I will enjoy the fresh air and make them an unforgettable memory

Today,
I will cherish the colors and absorb them into beyond the physical existence

Today,
I will hear the melodies and imbibe them into the soul

Today,
I will walk as if the legs were wings and there was no restriction

Today,
I will dress up and celebrate the physical form of life

Today,
I will feel the touch of the grass, air, water and silk

Today,
I will sleep a very calming sleep

Tomorrow,
Will be a new day again

And if the routine stayed
I will live the life to the fullest again

In the end,
No one will be there even though so many are there

In the beginning
We come alone

In the end
We will go alone

In the middle,
We meet many
We are all passengers to an unknown

Our experiences within
Are all alone
We can express and share but can feel alone

Live with all and love all
Stay happy within
Within is just you and only you.

Within is an unknown, waiting to be found!

Lord vs Dark Lord

Lord vs Dark Lord

What is the difference between the Lord and the Dark Lord?

Lord grants the wishes and so does the dark lord.

Lord is powerful and so is the dark Lord

Lord is the ruler and so is the dark lord

Lord punishes and so does the dark lord

Lord does justice and so does the dark lord.

Justice...

What is justice? Can it mean different things?
Justice is subjective. It could mean different things to different people.

What is justice is ones eyes could be unfair in the others.

Lord punishes and is kind, the dark lord punishes and is cruel

Lord rewards and doesn't bribe, dark lord bribes for rewards

Lord will sacrifice, dark lord will be pleased with a sacrifice

If the fear of punishment is more than the joy of reward, something is not right.

If the joy of reward is more than the fear of the punishment, that is a positive environment.

Lord encourages and motivates to follow the right path, the dark lord manipulates to follow the wrong path.

Lord earns love and respect and the dark lord earns pretention.

Lord is pleasant at all the time.
Dark lord is pleasant when pleased.

Lord listens to what his devotees want to say. Devotees say to the dark lord what he wants to hear.

Lord is loved. Dark lord is feared.

There are many lords and so many dark lords.

Not everyone can be a Lord or dark lord. But there is a little bit of Lord and little bit of Dark Lord in everyone. Everyone has a good side and a bad side.

Anyone could mean a lord or a dark lord to someone.

Anyone who is a provider to someone could mean lord to that someone. If what is provided is transactional, it is not godly. And if that transaction interferes with the free will and has negative consequences, then it is dark.
When someone's desires interfere with someone's harmless free will, it brings sadness and misery.

Happiness can only prevail when the joy of reward is more than the fear of punishment.

May happiness prevail!

What is the reality of life?

Is the target shaped rainbow in the picture real? We can't touch it, we can't even feel it. It is not commonly heard of. It is transient and it will fade away. Who knows how many times it appears and disappears above the clouds. The evidence of it's existence exists only if it is captured in a way that one of our sense organs perceive it! This time it is our eyes. Could there be more complicated things that we don't have the sense organs to perceive or if we have them we haven't learned to use them yet?

_______________

What is the reality of life?

Bereavement hurts, separation hurts.
Especially, if you are not the one causing it and especially if it is brought upon you despite all efforts!

It's ok to mourn and heal. It's ok to take the time to get back to normal.
And it's very important to not feel vulnerable at such times and gather as much support as you can even if you feel that solitude might be the answer.

Although, it is easier said than done.

Just based off of the ageing process, a lot of things that didn't feel could ever happen, happen and then there you are, left with no other option but to accept the harsh reality of life.

What is the reality of life?

Is it just a random life that we got out of sheer luck and lived it. Are we nothing more than the products of a perfectly designed chemical process. Or is it a planned journey?

Do the words like reincarnation and avatar actually mean something. The forces of nature are strong but can they design something like life. And if there is a positive force that brings the life, does it's contrary exist? Do the dark arts exist that we need to stay protected from?

What is the ultimate goal of life? If it is just continuation of race, it doesn't make sense. And if it is then why is it? Why do all creatures generally have an instinct for continuity of race?
It has to mean more that the continuation of race. It has to mean continuation of race for a purpose.

What is that purpose?
Some people say they know the answer.
How would we know that what they know is the right answer?
The only way is to experience it yourself.

How would you experience it?
Is meditation the answer?
Sometimes during meditation , you may experience things that are beyond explanation. Now, could that be a dream or something to do with the sleep cycle?

Speaking of sleep, it's interesting too. Sometimes the dreams are totally unrelated. Sometimes the dreams feel like they have a meaning. Some dreams feel like they want to enlighten you. Are those dreams just dreams?
Is sleep a form of meditation?
Is sleep a transient coma?

Medical knowledge explains certain things and so does physics. But a vast majority is untapped and undiscovered.
The earthians know about resonance, magnetism, electricity, light, sound, gravity, density, pressure, latent heat, medical sciences, etc. There are a lot more parameters that still stand to be tapped or discovered.

What is this feeling of "me" within us.
Are we separate from our physical forms? Is soul a real thing? If it is, then what is its purpose and why does such an energy exist?

This is very intriguing.
People say that we will find the answers one day. Our final day. Will we? Again, we don't know. Some people may, who knows.

So what should we do?
When we don't know what to do, where to go, what to think, the best way is to be mindless, thoughtless, and still and just follow the course without resistance.

Just go where it takes you with a little navigation towards positivity.
When the negative thoughts try to deviate, just think positive and become positive.

If we don't know the above answers, there must be a reason. And even if there isn't one, it seems like that is how it is meant to be.
What other option do we have?
So, should we follow the arbitrary course and experience the learnings in the process, stay focused and positive and walk this tight rope through the end and prevent any falls on the way. Probably yes.

Who knows what reward awaits us at the end. But we do know that if you successfully walk the tight rope through the end, without falling, it would be thrilling and it would be an achievement.

When we assume this life, we should leverage it to feel accomplished.
What is accomplishment? It's not the money or material and perhaps not even love. Is it probably just calming this energy "what we call is me, my or mine" towards dissolution and non existence.
Eventually the sun will also burn into ashes. And unless the new sun emerges or the humanity transcends, that is probably how much time we have to discover it all.
Its an enigma. We can only walk this walk in pursuit of enlightenment.
Om Shanti Om!

Ek Basera tha!

Ek shaam thi, Ek savera tha
Ek pyara sa basera tha

Basere mein Kuch baatein thi
Yaadon ka taana baana tha

Do chidiyon ka ek ghonsla tha
Jo mil ke hi sanjoya tha

Us ghonsle pe giddh ki nazrein thi
Us giddh ne ghonsla bikhera tha

Giddh ne Pyar ko samjha na
Usne pyaar ko kabhi na jaana tha

Dar se Pyar aur izzat ko
Usne haasil karna Chaha tha

Par samjha na is baat ko
Ki Pyar to jeeta Jata hai

Giddh ne chidiya ko alag Kiya
Usne wo basera bikhera tha

Chidiyon ki ek chiraiya thi
Usne bhi aansoo giraya tha

Giddh ko chidiyon ko harana tha
Giddh ne jhooth ka beej boya tha

Phir alag alag kar nishana laga ke
Chidiyon ko maar giraya tha

Wo giddh Khush hua
Aur is jhooti Jeet ka
Usne khoob jashna manaya tha

Par Bhool gaya ki wo bhi to
Chidiyon ka hi ek hissa tha

Ek hani pahunchi, ek kshati hui
Ek prem Kahani shaheed hui

Us rakh se nikali ek saans
Phir khuli hawa mein sama gayi

Phir rakh se Hawa ki Tarah wo
Poore jag mein chhaa gayi

Giddh sochta ki usne khatam Kiya
Par wo kissa to ab Amar hua

Wo Hawa banke sab logon ki
Saanson mein hi sama gaya

Wo Hawa ki tarah hi har ore
Is poore jag mein chhaa gaya

Wo shaheed hua par Amar hua
Wo kissa bada nirala tha

My journey thus far!

My journey thus far.

By God's grace, I got fortunate to have amazing parents, amazingly cooperative daughter, her babysitters, siblings, family, teachers, professors, friends, neighbors, colleagues, mentors, Facebook support groups such as Private practice physicians and Rheumatology physicians, who helped me with this journey and overcome the hurdles in my path. Especial thanks to the spouse who tolerated me during this process.

A special shout out to Riya, my daughter, who has been an amazing partner. I remember carrying her to and from the daycare at odd hours. She did as many hours as me even when I was in ICU. Thanks to the amazing babysitter, neighbors and friends and family.

And special thanks to Harvard University who gave me scholarship and loan for not just MPH but also for living expenses in the US, which thankfully I was able to pay off in the first year of job right after MPH from Harvard University.

Thanks to the residency and fellowship programs who trained me in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Rheumatology and also paid somewhere around $60000 USD annually, which was enough to be able to self sustain and keep my head high.

My medical journey started with

-  Lady Hardinge Medical College MBBS  2001-2006

- 2007 got married.

Thanks to the strong determination and supportive loved ones as mentioned above, I was able to pursue what every girl should pursue- independence and self respect.
Girls are not inferior to boys. Unfortunately, in small villages of India, this is still the mentality.

- Junior resident doctor at Smt Sucheta Kriplani Hospital 2007

- Resident Doctor at Artemis Hospital Gurgaon 2008-2009

- MPH Harvard School of Public Health 2009-2010 ( got scholarship and loan from Harvard University for tuition as well as living expenses. Paid off by myself in full with my first job. Thanks to Harvard, I didn't have to take a loan from anywhere else.)

Gave up on clinical side to lead a homely family life. Gave up on great positions at prestigious organizations in Boston and Texas to be close to family. Fortunately, got a great opportunity in NJ.

- Worked as a Life science consultant at Nuvera Life Sciences ( launched multimillion dollar projects for Fortune 500 companies) 2010-2012

- Gave birth to a beautiful daughter Riya, ( the love of my life)

Realized that if not independent, there is no respect and no free will and no autonomy.

Also realized once a doctor, always a doctor. The most painful thing for a doctor is giving up on medicine. So , decided to make a come back to the world of clinical medicine.

- Did observerships and externships while raising a baby and enjoying motherhood.  2012-2015

- Worked as an Internal Medicine Resident doctor at prestigious  New York Medical College @ St Michael's Medical Center 2015-2018

- Worked as a Geriatric Fellow at the prestigious University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston  2018-2019

- Worked as a Rheumatology Fellow at the prestigious University of Texas Medical Branch 2019 -2021, where I also earned an Outstanding Overall fellow award.

Like in anyone's life, there were hindrances in mine too. Some people questioned my decision to pursue Geriatrics and Rheumatology and some people created hurdles but thanks to the amazing supportive loved ones as mentioned above who encouraged me to continue this journey.

- Locum at Ascension 2021
- Clinical specialist at MD Anderson Cancer Center 2021

Never pursued money during this process. Kept going on in pursuit of excellence and self respect while ensuring that I get time for my family.

In the process I had to give up on lucrative opportunities to have more time for the family while being able to do justice with my work and take good care of patients.

Thanks to the locum to help me gather some funding for the start up. Thanks to the supporting affiliated hospitals.
Thanks for supportive friends for their readiness to loan me capital to invest in the startup, if needed, which can be extremely challenging financially.

It takes a village to raise a child and same is true in the making of a doctor. Not everyone becomes one but if you have the grit and the right people around you, anyone can do it.

Now that this journey is coming close to the destination, I am really thankful to everyone who wished well and cooperated and contributed.

In 2021, I started up a venture "JSR Health Rheumatology Clinic" in an attempt to provide warm and caring services to arthritis and Rheumatology patients.
Aim: To provide the highest quality of care to the patients
Motto is to help them live their best life which they truly deserve.

Need all your blessings to make this a successful venture that would allow me to take care of my patients as well as my family members, friends, neighbors and all loved ones.
🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you,

I Am Geriatric!

I am Geriatric!

I am old,

And my experiences are gold

My skin may be wrinkled

It has faced the sun to give shade to others

My bones may be weak

They have once been the pillars for others

My hands may tremble with tremors

They have once taught others how to write

My mind may be duller

It has made other minds bright

My memory may be weak

I have given many, the moments to remember

I may not be able to think

I have given many, the thoughts to ponder

My teeth may be missing

I have given food to many to survive and thrive

I may not be able to walk steadily

I have helped others walk the walk of life

I  may not be able to see

I have shown others the path

I may not be able to hear now

I have lent an ear when I had

I like being cared for

I don't like being bossed

I like being loved

I don't like being forced

I like having people willing to help,

But I don't like when they pity…

I like my independence

Though you may make a decision for me,

If you can understand

That I like empathy but not sympathy

I have lived a life

That in itself brings grace

That makes me deserving

Of respect to my space

I may have lost my sleep

I know it will return here

And when it returns,

It will embrace me forever

I am Geriatric today

You may be one tomorrow

It is another thing that I have,

And I will pass it on
